Cardiovascular complications are the leading cause of death in patients with chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease. Chronic kidney disease-specific extent and histoanatomic type of vascular calcification are considered to be the main cause of its cardiovascular disease. The common atherosclerotic risk factors could not explain why the incidence of cardiovascular disease is so high in chronic kidney disease. Many studies try to figure out the mechanisms involved in vascular calcification in patients with kidney disease, it is a very popular topic recently. Innovative clinical studies attempt to find out the pathogenic mechanisms to prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, and also reduce the mortality of the patients with dialysis and chronic kidney disease.
