This paper attempts to discuss the relationships between organized camping, certification systems for camp counselors, and accreditation standards for camp programs and services by taking a critical review of the related literature. The paper consists of four parts. The first part deals with the definition of organized camping. The second part discusses the concepts of camp counselors and certification systems, and some other related terms. A recent master thesis in Taiwan is cited to describe the hard skills and the soft skills needed for certifying camp counselors. The third part focuses on accreditation standards for camp programs and services. It is found that the standards can be divided into six categories. The fourth part concludes with the proposal of realizing certification systems for camp counselors and accreditation standards for camp programs and services by, among things, developing a professional camping education program in the higher education institutions.
