由環境主義論環境史教學在通識教育中的角色

On the Role of Environmental History in General Education: A Perspective of Environmentalism

摘要


環境史是歷史研究領域中新興的範疇,深受當代環境運動與環境主義之影響。環境史教學促使學生反省工業革命以來的價值觀,也可以藉由世界與本土的環境史知識,增進對鄉土與自然環境之情感,而且它綜合科技與人文之領域,可以適切的傳達通識教育之理念,將賦與學生縱深、周延與宏觀的視野。由於環境問題已經成為世界性議題,亟待整合性知識加以解決,環境史教學可以使環境學知識之傳授更為完整,因此應該受到通識教育課程之重視。

Environmental History is a new field in historical study. It is generated by the rise of modern environmental movement and environmentalism. Environmental agenda have become global concerns and interdisciplinary trainings are inevitably required to solve environmental problems in contemporary world. Teaching environmental history is important in general education, because the course can teach students to evaluate the values people have been believing in since the Industrial Revolution. It also increases loves to home and nature by studing the environmental history of world and home country. And it synthesizes both fields of humanity and science as well. In other words, the course can carry out the ideals of general education and students can be endowed with more sophisticated and comprehensive points of view in environmental education. The course of environmental history should be estimated in general education.
