華梵大學通識教育的理念

摘要

華梵大學通識教育的理念，為針對當前社會的亂象與教育上的偏差，亟思以東方人文思想為基礎，倡導「覺之教育」與「人文與科技融匯」、「慈悲與智慧相生」的創校理念與宗旨，提昇人文精神，推展人文教育，以淨化人心，導正教育，澄清社會。培養德術兼備，身心均衡發展，且能發揮宗教家質樸堅忍的情操與踏實踐履的精神，透過已立立人，成己成人，自覺覺他的過程，以達成生命的圓滿。
覺之教育的具體內容包括：
一、人本的教育。
二、心靈的教育。
三、藝術的教育。
四、園林的教育。
五、宗教的教育。

For the sake of modifying the disorder of our society and the deviation of our education, Huafan University has elaborated, through its General Education Program, to advocate the Enlightened Education and the University's founding philosophy-”the integration of humanities and technology, and the symbiosis of compassion and wisdom”, with the Oriental humanistic ideology for basis, in order to elevate the humanistic spirites, to extend and refresh our education, and to purify our mind as well as society. It is our ultimate hope to make every graduate an exemplar of excellent cultivation and virtue, develop equally in mind and body, and possess of a religious passion where the spirits of simplicity and perseverance pervade. Through the process of not only cultivating and enlightening oneself but also extending the merits toward others, one is to experience the fulfillment and maturity of life.
Our content of Enlightened Education comprises of the following five categories:
1. The education focusing on humanness;
2. The education stressing the discipline of mind and soul;
3. The education of art;
4. The education of nature;
5. The education of religious piety.
