Clinical ultrasound was introduced in the 1960s, it has become the most widely used diagnostic imaging modality today. Ultrasound imaging is currently considered to be a safe, real-time, non-invasive and inexpensive method for managing pergnancy. Obstetric ultrasound has progressively become a central role in the investigation of detecting many fetal structural and functional abnormalities, as well as an assessment of gestational age, size and growth in the fetus. Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography is the latest splendid medical image technique. With the inception of 3D scan, it is especially valuable when dealing with abnormalities of the brain, cleft lips and overlapping finger. The field of ultrasound in obstetric is a rapidly developing one and we can look forward in the near future to a much larger part being played by 3D scan.
