The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the reproducibility of clinical duplicated recordings of dental indices among [ntra- and interexaminer and according to tooth sites. Data of 9 individuals were collected by 6 examiners (3 dental students and 3 dental staffs). Tooth mobility (MOB), gingival index (GI), probing pocket depth (PPD) were recorded. In investigating whether shallow pocket depth measurements were nore reproducible than deep pocket depth I measuremen的, study was devised into two parts (Part I: pocket depth≤5 mm; Part Ⅱ: pocket depth> 5 mm).Our results showed that: (l) In addition to the recording of GI, the correlation coefficients of MOB, PLI, CI and PPD recordings were shown to range from 0.904-0.980 (p < 0.01) for the intraexaminer reproducibility of staffs. There was a less reproducible of GI recording than other recordings, but the correlation coefficient of Gl recording was also shown to a statistically significant in a 0.0 I probability level. (2) The intraexaminer reproducibility of all recordings were more variable in students than in staffs. There was a lower degree of intraexaminer reproducibility for GI recording of students. The duplicated variation was shown to be frequently occurred in proximal and palatal surfaces, and rarely in buccal surface. (3) Low intraexaminer reproducibility was found in students than in staffs, and that may be due to lack of professional experience. (4) Whene valuating the reproducibility of probing depth between shallow pockets and deep pockets, there is no significant difference of intraexall1lner recordings and interexaminer recordings. (5) There is a slight higher degree of reproducibility of PPD recordi;gs for incisors than for premolars 到1d mo lars.
