從地理學的觀點評介關於“米糖相剋”議題的文獻
A Review of Literatures about the Issues that Taiwan Sugar Industry 'The Contradictory Relationship between Rice and Sugar' -on a Point of Geography's View
摘要
本文主要係就日治時代以來糖業研究中有關「米糖相剋」議題的文獻，從地理學的觀點予以評介，以期待能夠延續這些文獻的研究成果，從而完成以地理學的角度一窺「米糖相剋」問題的論述。 文中首先介紹「米糖相剋」問題的緣由與意義，並將有關這方面的文獻分成五類予以討論，即農業經濟論的說法、馬克斯史觀的階級對立說、發展理論的功能性雙元經濟論與階級支配說、一般的米糖比價與買收制度研究、經濟學有效經營的觀點。 結果發現，除了根岸勉治外，大多數學者並未注意到「米糖相剋」問題存在的區域差異，或是只稍微論及，而未做深入的探討。 本文認為看待重要議題時，如若模糊時間和空間背景，特別是在台灣這種區域差異頗大的地區，可能導致漏失某些重要訊息，而無法看見該重要議題的全貌。

There is a key subject of debate when discussing the development of Taiwan sugar Industry. That is 'the contradictory relationship between rice and sugar'. This paper attempts to review literatures about the subject, especially from the point of geography's view. In the first we introduce what is and why 'the contradictory relationship between rice and sugar' happened. And divide the literatures into five parts to discuss. The five parts are agriculture economics conception, a historical view point of Marxism, the conception of 'unequal labor rewards and class domination', sugar cane purchase system, and efficient operation conception. Most of the scholars when they discussed this subject would always ignored areal differentiation. And will lose some important information.
