摘要

BACKGROUND:The study aims to explore the degree of the serum’s IgE reaction to aller-gen in patients with allergic rhinitis, and whether there is a significant difference in inflammatory cells and lymphocyte subpopulations between patients with allergic rhinitis and normal adults. The further prupose is to understand its immunological mechanism and seartch the new therapeutic method. METHODS:One hundred sixty patients with allergic rhinitis were selected. The experi-ment group consisted of 84 men, 76 women, with an average age of 23+-9 years. The control group consisted of 50 healthy adults(26 men, 24 women), with an arerage age of 20+-7 years. Each person donated 20 cc of whole blood. Then, the research about aller-gen, inflammatory cells and lymphocyte subpopulations were performed. RESULTS:1. The Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus was the most common allergen found in patients with allergic rhinitis, furthermore, the highest rate of serum’s IgE concentra-tion in patients with allergic rhinitis is the sixth class. 2 There was a significant differ-ence between patients with allergic rhinitis and normal adults in IgE level, eosinophil count in nasal secretions, eosinophil count and eosinophil cationic protein in peripheral blood(p<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference between the patients with allergic rhinitis and normal adults regarding leukocyte, lymphocyte, B-lymphocyte, T-lymphocyte, CD4, CD8, the ratio of CD4/CD8 and HLA-DR. CONCLUSIONS:The results of this study indicate that Taiwanese patients’ IgE reaction in serum to Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus is very strong. This finding is compatible with allergic rhinitis which has a type I hypersensitivity response. No significant differ-ence was found in the examination of leukocyte or lymphocyte subpopulations and HLA-DR between patients with allergic rhinitis will require further study. We believe that the mechanisms and treatments for allergic rhinitis would be clarified by further research in allergic rhinitis.
