Lipoma of the head and neck is not uncommon. From January 1986 to December 1990, we collected 18 cases of lipoma in the head and neck (13 malesand 5 females). The average age was 42.2 years. Most of the tumors were located in the anterior neck (7 cases). In our series, there were 15 cases of lipoma and 3 cases of fibrolipoma. The duration of symptoms was longer than one year in half of these cases (9 cases). There were only two cases in which the tumor size was larger than 5 cm. The diagnosis of lipoma is not very difficult. Surgical excision is the best treatment of lipoma in the head and neck. So far, no recurrence has been noted in our series.
