摘要
Eagle氏症候群是指莖狀突過長或莖突舌骨韌帶或莖突下頷韌帶鈣化太厲害所引起的症狀。Eagle首先報告兩個由於莖狀突太長而引發症狀的病例。Eagle氏症候群一般分為兩類。第1類稱為classic syndrome，好發於扁桃切除之後，病人常有喉嚨異樣感、耳朵痛、發聲困難、吞嚥困難，或是一再發生喉嚨痛的現象，此乃源於刺激第5，7，9，10對腦神經所致。第2類為carotid artery syndrome。第2類與刺激分佈於ca-rotid srtery壁上的交感神經有關。若偏向外頸動脈則有眼睛、脖子等疼痛；若是偏向內頸動脈則有頭痛的現象。雖燃莖突過長的人數很多，但是只有少數才是真正稱得上為Eagle氏症候群。本篇3病例報告中，一例為classic syndrone，一例為carotid artery syndrome，另一例為混合型。3病例在經過手術切除莖突後，症狀均完全緩解。

Eagles’s syndrome is the term given to symptomatic elogation of the styloid process or process or mineralization of the stylohyoid or stylomandibular ligaments. Eagle originally described 2 distinct syndromes attributed to elogation of the styloid process. The first, the classic syndrome, results from stimulation of CN V, VII, IX and X. The second type, the carotid artery (CA) syndrome, is related to stimulation of the sympathetic nerve supply to the wall of the CA. Although the incidence of styloid process elongation in the population is fairly common, only a small percetage have Eagle’s syndrome. Ww report 3 cases, one clases, one classic syndrome (sore throat, lump in the throat), one CA syndrome (fullness and tenderness of the neck) and one mixed (eye pain, headache, sore throat, foreign body sensation in the throat). The 3 cases were surgically using intraoral approah to shorten the styloid process under general anesthesia. Follow-up form 5 to 12 mnths have revealed complete relief of symptoms.
