Nasal packing is frequently used after septoplasty to fix the nasal septum, to help healing of wound and to prevent septal hematoma. The disavantages of nasal packing include nasal obstruction, dysphagia, headache etc... In some cases, worsening of cardiovascular diseases or toxic shock syndrome was also noted after nasal packing. 15 cases of nasal septo-plasty in Show-Chwan Memorial Hospital were collected from Oct. 1996 to Jan. 1997. The method of nasal packing is replaced by the technique of ”through and through suture of septum.” The nasal airway is kept patent after surgery, so the patients don't have to suffer from nasal packing except for one case of oozing and one case of hematoma. This paper is to introduce the suture technique and report our patients' outcome.
