摘要


一氧化氮(簡稱NO)在細胞經由NO合成酶的催化而形成。如今發現的NO合成酶共有3種型式,分別為1)神經性NO合成酶,簡稱nNOS。2)誘導性NO合成酶,簡稱iNOS。3)血管內皮NO合成酶,簡稱eNOS。 就人類的呼氣NO而言,有相當大量的NO來自鼻竇上皮。在鼻腔及上頜竇中的大量NO,負有局部制菌作用,擔任呼吸道的第一線保護功能;另一方面,在吸氣時,自上呼吸道如鼻腔、鼻竇等地方帶到肺部的小量NO,可調節肺血管張力,而具有提升肺功能的作用。

Nitric oxide is formed in cells by the enzyme known as NO synthase (NOS). Three isoforms of NOS are now known to exist. They are nNOS are iNOS and eNOS. In normal persons, a large NO production takes place in the epithelium of paranasal sinuses and this NO contributes considerably to the levels of NO found in nasally exhaled air. The high local NO concentrations in nasal airways and the sinuses may help to protect the airway against airborne infectious agent. Thus, airborne NO may represent first line of defence in the airways, possible acting on pathogens, even before they reach the mucosa. On the other hand, inhaled endogenous NO, derived from the upper airway, may be iveolved in regulation of pulmonary function in human.
