毛奇齡於康熙十八年(1679)中制科後,錄出之前在吉安白鷺洲書院學講會的論辨記錄,而得《白鷺洲主客說詩》一卷。《白鷺洲主客說詩》的爭論最主要環繞著「淫詩說」是否成立的論題進行,本書關於此問題之論辨就有十二條,幾乎佔了全書六成篇幅。其餘論題,亦多與朱熹有關。整體來看,《白鷺州主客說詩》主要對朱熹《詩經》學重要觀點進行駁斥,其中牽涉到《詩經》閱讀與研究上的方法論問題。《白鷺州主客說詩》表現出漢學家的立場,符合當時的學術潮流。另外,《詩經》自《毛傳》、《鄭箋》以來,建立了解釋的系統性。《白鷺州主客說詩》堅守《詩序》、《毛傳》之說法,可以視為毛奇齡維護傳統解釋系統的深刻用心。
In 1679, Mao, Ji-Ling got the status of admission shall of the imperial examination,, he wrote the debate recorded that argued with other scholars in Gian Bailuzhou College.Tthis is the origin of the Bai-Lu-Zhou-Zhu-Ke-Shui-Shi. The focus of debate in this book is to judge the Book of Songs that had immoral content or not. The book discussed on this issue there are twelve, accounting for almost sixty percent of the book. The remaining length was opposed to the interpretation of Zhu- Xi on the Book of Songs. Overall, this book was very strongly opposed to the views of Zhu Xi. It involved a reading and study views of The Book of Songs on methodological issues. Bai-Lu-Zhou-Zhu-Ke-Shui-Shi showed the position of a Han-Study scholar, in line with the trend of academic. Mao, Ji-Ling safeguard the traditional interpretation of a positive determination.
