In the existing literature, the researchers usually used MTMD (Multiple Tuned Mass Dampers) to suppress the vibration responses of beam-typed structures subjected to external dynamic loads. For the cases of plate-typed structures, the literature is limited. Thus, this paper studies the vibration reduction of a multi-degree-of-freedom plate-typed structure due to an external harmonic load using MTMD. Some important parameters closely relating to the current research topic, such as frequency range, frequency spacing, damping ratio, mass ratio and total number of MTMD, are investigated. From the presented numerical results, it is found that the above-mentioned parameters influence the vibration reduction effectiveness of MTMD significantly.
