In recent 4 years, we collected 4 cases with pseudomyxoma peritonei in our hospital. Their clinical pictures were presented and the published literatures were reviewed. In our series, the number was equal between male and female. The age was ranged from 57 to 66 years. The most common presenting symptoms were abdominal distention, body weight loss and malaise. The most peculial aspect was the character of ascites, which was viscid. The origin of pseudomyxoma peritonei had been ovary, 2; appendix, 1; and unknown, 1. Two had received exploratory laparotomy and postoperative chemotherapy, one accepted expiatory laparotomy only and the remainder was discharged after abdomnial tapping. The survival time ranged from half to two years till now. Two cases were lost of follow up.
