The clinical management of patients with colorectal cancer must be individualized. The detection of a positive Fecal Occult Blood Test must be followed by thorough consideration of the availability of competent radiologists and colonoscopists, capable to perform a satisfactory examination, and the ability of the patient to clean the colon. After establishing the diagnosis, the surgeon will be consultted to determine whether the tumor resectable. Additional image studies may be needed for this assessment. Staging of the cancer would require a discussion with the surgeon and the pathologist. This can provide the valuable information for prognosis and in decision making of further treatment. Adjuvant radiation treatment and chemotherapy had been found to be beneficial in stage B-2 and C rectal carcinoma. Various other issues were also discussed.
