The purposes of the study were to investigate and predict the effects of internet addiction and mental anxieties among college students. After the investigation of related theories and literature review, there were 359 college students administered with ”Internet Addiction and Mental Anxiety Symptom Scale”. The findings are as follows: 1. On the average, the index value of ”Internet Addiction Scale” among college students is higher than mean value. 2. The index value of ”Internet Addiction Scale” among male college students is significantly higher than female college students. Among the symptoms, ”Interpersonal and health problems” and ”Time management problems” are the most significant ones. ”Withdrawal symptom” is the next. 3. The index value of ”Internet Addiction Scale” among the college students who major in ”Mathematics, sciences, and engineering” are significantly higher than those who major in ”Education”. 4. The index values of ”Internet Addiction Scale” among all college students, no matter what grade they are, show no significant differences. 5. On the average, the index value of ”Mental Anxiety Scale” among college students is higher than mean value. 6. Totally, the index value of ”Mental Anxiety Scale” among all college students, no matter what gender they are, show no significant differences. Separately, the index value of ”Life disorder” of the female college students is significantly higher than male college students. 7. The index value of ”Mental Anxiety Scale” among all college students, no matter what field they major, show no significant differences. 8. The index value of ”Mental Anxiety Scale” among all college students, no matter what grade they are, show no significant differences. 9. The influences of mental anxieties can significantly predict the symptoms of internet addiction. 10. Among the mental anxiety symptoms of the college students, ”Pessimism and withdrawal” and ”Mentally out of control” are the most significant predictors of internet addiction. In addition, there are eight suggestions offered for educators, counselors, internet workers, and future researchers.
