論果陀劇場《淡水小鎮》的跨文化改編

An Intercultural Adaptation of Godot Theatre's Little Town of Tanshui

摘要


《淡水小鎮》是果陀劇團這些年來一再重演的經典劇作,其文本是由桑頓懷爾德(Thornton wildel,1897-1975)劇作-《小鎮》(Our Town)改編而成,改編者梁志民將原著中的小鎮位置改編爲台選的淡水,並試著以台灣淡水鎮的風土民情爲劇本背景而創作出《淡水小鎮》此劇。而改編者在改編文本時,對原著劇本所做的平行移植、背景更動到他個人觀點的添增,都涉及到了跨文化改編的問題,而這些問題便是本文中即將探討的部分。 本文先從介紹此篇論文的研究方法-帕維斯(Patrice Pavis)的跨文化劇場理論爲始,帕維斯的跨文化理論中將一連串的檢視過程比喻爲個沙漏。沙漏理論正是此備論文最主要的理論依據,將可以讓我們深入探討東西方文化改編上常見的問題。而在有了確立的理論依據之後,再進而對兩本劇本的詳細分析。最終目的是期望在確定的理論依據背景下,完整的析與詮釋果陀劇場《淡水小鎮》文本的跨文化改編。

Little Town of Tanshui is a classic play which has been revived again and again by Godot Theatre these years. The text of this play is adapted from Thornton Wilder's Our Town. The adapter Chi-Ming Liang changed the location of the original town into Tanshui in northern Taiwan, and tried to create this play in the new background of the ordinance in Tanshui. When the adapter tried to adapt the text, he had to transplant the idea of the original play, the background, or even to add his own viewpoint. These are related to the questions of intercultural adaptation. The purpose of this paper is to deal with these questions. I shall begin with introducing the critical method: Patrice Pavis's theory of intercultural theatre. Pavis allegorizes the survey of this theory as an hourglass, and this theory of hourglass serves as the critical method of this paper, hoping to examine and analyze questions seen in the intercultural adaptation of Little Town of Tanshui. We shall analyze and contrast the two plays particularly, and finally try to discourse upon the central thesis of the adaptation of Little Town of Tanshui.
