Analyzing the Intercultural Presentation of "Chong Sheng Ji Ji Chong Sheng" by Ce'po Theater Group

Hualien County, lays on the eastern part of Taiwan Island, not only contains a complicated ethnic composition, but also owns very rich cultural resources. However, because of a shorter development history and of the geographical isolation, Hualien residents suffer from information divide greatly. This information divide reflects on the delaying of independent, contemporary art development. In the field of drama, it was not until the late 90s when Hualien started to have its first independent theatre groups to active - almost two decade later than the rest areas of Taiwan. Among all the currently active theatre groups in Hualien, there is one community theatre that has the most unique formation. The name is Ce'po Theater Group, it is purely formed with the local indigenous Ami tribe people. By applying the theory of Intercultural theatre, this paper will exam the intercultural element and presentation showed in the theatrical performance of Ce'po theater group, and hope to provide a direction for anyone who interested in doing future research for the drama activities in Hualien.
