This study investigates electrical transient responses of a piezoelectric transducer and their major characteristics such as maximum voltage, minimum voltage and peak-to-peak voltage under impact. The structure and principle of the transducer are expressed first. Then, an equivalent circuit and its parameters are stated, and a transient response is derived from the equivalent circuit. Moreover, an impact testing mechanism is built to control the magnitude of an impact force, and a data measuring system is constructed to pick up waveforms of the transient responses and their related information. Finally, effected of magnitudes of impact forces and testing resistances on the transient characteristics are discussed according to the experimental results.
