This paper proposes a diagonal watermark scheme for image tamper detection and recovery. In the proposed scheme, an image is divided into four regions. Each region segments into several blocks sized 2 by 2. Every block has a partner block in the diagonal region. The scheme uses MD5 and HMAC hash function to generate the authentication watermark for the partner blocks. The watermark is then concealed into another diagonal direction. According to the experimental results, the proposed scheme has high detection accuracy and recovering ability. Furthermore, the stego images have high visual quality.
