Students of an Applied English Department can develop their English skills as they become actively involved in learning Economics. Using oral, written, and visual forms of statements develop Economics problem-solving skills. Such activities offer multiple opportunities for students with limited English proficiency (LEP) to practice and reinforce their English skills. When teaching Economics in English, teachers adopt a perspective in which students are made to communicate among themselves, which helps them to develop their English skills. In addition, the process of developing English skills in Economics class provides teachers with an excellent opportunity to stimulate and encourage the development of skills in English. Language teachers should collaborate on such projects with teachers of other subjects, especially at a technology institute, where subject areas are compartmentalized in separate departments. This study focuses on such collaborative projects and should help teachers understand how English language for communicative purposes is linked with the development of other skills.
