Song for Repetition-A Study of Repetitive Forms and Presentation in Modern Fairy Tales

This study attempts to provide some answers to the following two questions related to repetition in children's stories: Do children feel the repetitive forms in the stories as natural as their breaths? Do adults have the patience to tell a story repetitively to children when requested by the latter? Four children's stories, which have been presented along with music and rhythmic movement by the researcher to her students in her class, were used as examples to illustrate the similarity between repetitive forms in stories and the repetitive structure of Rondo in music. Further comparisons are made between breath on the one hand and teaching and story on the other hand. Finally it is suggested that educators should not take breath for granted, and should be aware of its ever existence in children's work and play, other than in the story books and school curriculum.
