”Tactics” is the base of ”strategy,” their relationship is that ”the former supports the later, the latter directs the former.” The theory of tactics in the pre-Chin period started in the era of Huang Dynasty. After a growth in the periods of Hsia, Shang, Zhou dynasties, the theory was matured in the Epoch of Spring and Autumn(722-484 B.C.). The theory was realized in the grouping of single military unit, of multiple fighting units, change of fighting deployment, command, and the match of personnel and weapons, etc. The concluding achievement of these developments can be found in the Emperor Chin-Shi-Huang's Terra-cotta Warriors' order of battle which was discovered in 1975 in China.
