This paper attempts to investigate the effect of different holey distribution of back panel on the thermal uniformity of open refrigerated display case (ORDC) through the experimental and numerical simulation approaches. The results show that the full holey distribution on the lower three shelves can perform the best temperature uniformity among the all test cases. In this case, the temperature difference from shelf 3 to shelf 6 is lower than that of original design by 2℃, thus it can alleviate the operation load of compressor and increase the energy-saving efficiency of RDCs.
