Energy Technology Revolution: Engineered Geothermal System

摘要


頁岩氣的新聞最近時常映入眼簾,宛如一場人類新興能源革命,頁岩氣成功的關鍵在於液壓裂解技術,如果工程地熱系統使用類似技術進行探鑿,在異曲同工之下,發電量可擴增5-10倍,這對於全世界能源供應,不斥又是另一項創舉。本文從傳統地熱開始,介紹工程地熱技術的發展歷程,以及目前在全世界已進行的計畫概況。同時,本文也評估台灣深層地熱之發展潛力,發現其足夠提供台灣約二分之一的所需電力,實在不容小覷。

Shale gas is often seen in the news recently, like a human emerging energy revolution. The key to the success lies in the hydraulic fracking technology in the exploring process. If Engineered Geothermal System (EGS) applies the similar technology, under the different tunes rendered with equal skill, the power output can be amplified 5-10 times, which is exclusively an another initiative for the world's energy supply. In this paper, starting from the traditional geothermal energy development, we introduce the progress and profile of the EGS technology and the projects that have been carried out in the world at present. Meanwhile, the paper also assesses the development potential of deep geothermal energy in Taiwan. We found EGS to be sufficient to provide about half the electricity supply for this country, which is really amazing.
