The central aspect political philosophy in xunzi's work was the great emphasis on courtesy. In order to govern and achieve a strong state, a king must follow in sages' footstep, follow rigid standards through the application of courtesy to his country. Xunzi believed that a king could rule efficiently if he treats his subordinates and people equally without having any preferential treatment. Furthermore, if he takes good care of his people, and in return, his people will respond with the loyalty and follow a sage of the best government.
