This study examined and analyzed the position of back-line spike using the models of Chang Huen-min, Liu Li-fang, and Ku Nai-han, players on the Chinese Taipei Women's Volleyball Team, Asian Games Busan 2002. This study was based on mechanics and conclusions reached through qualitative analysis. By videotaping their performance and then analyzing the tape, the findings were as followed: 1. All three players have done the spike smoothly and with coordination, and their spans of three-step run-ups conform with scientific requirements. 2. The distance between jumping point and the attacking line should be within 5 to 10 cm. 3. The muscle strength of lower limbs should be improved to increase the speed of the run-ups. 4. The distance of run-ups should be reduced and more squatting and prolonged arm swinging should be carried out in order to heighten the hitting point.
