The purpose of the study was to investigate vocational evaluators' selection and time spending of assessment methods according to different disability types and severity levels. Based on 381 vocational evaluation reports from the Po-Ai Vocational Training Center in Kaohsiung city during 2003-2005, the results showed the average time used for each method for every clients met the allowed time set by the regulations; however, the total hours spent for each client in situational assessment and job try-out were much less than the findings from Brown, McDaniel and King (1995). It was also found there was no difference in time spending for these two assessment methods between clients with physical disability and mental retardation in disability type or severity level. The issues regarding the use of situational assessment and job try-out were discussed.
