The Study of Self-disclosure on SLOWLY App Stories

Affected by the epidemic, many people's life patterns have changed to remote office or video lessons. Changes in life patterns during home isolation have brought the issue of loneliness and loneliness to the fore. It may be common daily life for people to care about each other's dynamics among friends through online social media, or try to expand their circle of friends from dating apps. Past research on self-disclosure in social media or online communities has focused on interpersonal interactions, intimacy, and disease narratives between people and computer-mediated communication, further exploring the experience of self-disclosure and the impact on life influence. Subsequent research will focus on the dating software of mobile apps, and explore the relationship between self-disclosure and privacy, online romance, and liquid love, and explore people's online behaviors and experiences from multiple perspectives. The communication process of digital pen pals is a narrative text that generates dialogue with strangers, and seeks the meaning of self-disclosure from the life experience and narrative context in the text. This study aims to explore the self-disclosure behaviors of digital pen pals, as well as the experience of interpersonal communication and self-disclosure, and to further understand the impact on life from the experience. Purposive Sampling was used to select original works written in Chinese from the website of SLOWLY stories, and to analyze the texts in a similar cultural context as much as possible. Using the Narrative analysis method proposed by Lieblich, Tuval-Mashiach, & Zilber , this study takes part of the dimension "category-content" for analysis. From the process of narrative text analysis, it is found that through the process of self-disclosure through letters and texts, pen pals can share each other's life experiences and feelings or listen to other people's stories, further generating the possibility of future interaction and self-disclosure with strangers.
