Participatory Ergonomic Approach to Improve Wearing Rate of Hearing Protection Devices

Occupational noise causes hearing impairment. But for some reasons, there is still a lot of workers not wearing protection devices as they should. The current research employed participatory ergonomic approach of macroergonomics to improve the wearing rate of hearing protection devices. The improvement plan included activities in technical, personnel, and organizational levels. The comprehensive plan worked to increase the wearing rate from l5% to 96%. Comparatively, those firms that did not participate, increased the wearing rate from l9% to 37%. It was supported that participatory ergonomic approach could improve the wearing rate of hearing protection devices.
