Resin-Bonded Prosthesis with Fiber Reinforced Composite Resin-A Case Report

This case report describes an 11-year-old girl with traumatic loss of the maxillary left central and lateral incisor. Traumatic loss of maxillary incisors during the active preadolescent and teenage years is a serious and challenging clinical situation. Several options exist for replacing a missing maxillary central incisor. These options may include a removable partial denture, conventional fixed partial denture, dental implant, or a resin-bonded appliance with a metal substructure (Maryland Bridge). The fiber reinforced composite (FRC) material offers a restorative solution that is conservative and esthetic when compared to other restorations. Advantages include reduction of cost compared to conventional bridges, saving of time, ease of application, absence of metal allergy, and naturalness of feel. Its limitations include occlusal factors, and the presence of unsuitable abutment teeth. This case report describes the resin-bonded prosthesis with FRC for replacement of anterior maxilla with good success in 3 years follow-up.
