摘要

本研究主要透過地理學的觀點，從大範圍環境來討論台灣資訊工業的發展歷程。過程中，以縣市爲空間分析單位，藉著資訊工業與其他產業類別的相互比較，分析彼此在區位變遷的差異。最後，再就資訊工業發展之限制因素與未來發展趨勢作一說明。討論分析發現，資訊工業的空間分佈與其他類別產業的空間分佈有著顯著的不同。在傳統產業呈分散分佈的同時，資訊工業在定區位條件的選擇下，雖然已由最初的「引入增長」的地理集中過渡到「成熟標準化」的工廠區位相對分散，但產業的偏向集中於北部地區主要縣市的特性仍相當顯著。經十數年的發展，其與電力電子工業間的關連係數值高達0.73，此與資訊工業作爲全生產體系的中下游產業有密切關連。由資訊工業之員工平均產值明顯偏高，說明了這些地區技術密集之產業型態已儼然成形。

The computer industry is one of the most important industries promoted by the government in the 1980s. This research tries to explore the development history and to compare the spatial structure change of the computer industry with other industries in Taiwan. We find that the Taiwan computer firms were trying to seek the overseas market and to establish durable competitive advantage at the beginning, which was quite different from other industries. As the ability to manufacturing computer fully developed, its distribution did not change much but still clustered in northern counties. In future development, high labor cost and labor shortage and competition from NICs etc. were the main issues to face.
