Display technology stays as the key human interface among people's everyday lives in the 21(superscript st) century. Display that converys real-time information has become an indispensable part of our lives. Real world information which we obtain with our eye is three-dimensional. It is reasonable, yherefore, thatwe humans want an imageing system that produces pictures that are as natural and real as things we see and experience every day. The advancement of the image displays, from black & white to color, from CRT to flat-panel, from portable to foldable, and to the pursuit of higher definition and quality, is driven by the human desire for natural vision and ease of use. We believe that the next quantum jump will be from 2D to 3D, which addresses one of the most important and mysterious dimensions of human vision, and three-dimensional display is a very promising apporoach expected to satisfy such wishes. An ideal 3D image display system involves technologies not only in opto-electronic engineering but also in psychology, information, and communications.
