In this paper a ring fiber laser based on the use of several kinds of fiber gratings, erbium-doped fibers and different pumping levels is demonstrated with the maximum tuning range of about 16nm. The tuning mechanism depends on the center wavelength of a fiber Bragg grating, which is changed by applying different levels of strain along fiber axis. The tuning range can be improved by means of reducing the fiber diameter from the HF etching fiber technique. We use the superstructure gratings and polarization controllers to switch and tune the output wavelength of the fiber laser.
