摘要

學堂未興起前，學習常識的童蒙教材主要有兩種，即《三字經》和《幼學瓊林》。《三字經》是部常識小百科，《幼學瓊林》是部成語、典故百科辭典。本文發現，兩書所含的常識，不少和自然哲學、自然科學、技術技藝有關；因知古代的童蒙教育家，並未忽略自然哲學、自然科學、技術技藝方面的知識。

Before Western-style schools emerge in China, San Zi Jing (三字經) and You Xue Qiong Lin (幼學瓊林) are the main primers for children to learn common sense. San Zi Jing is a small encyclopedia of common sense, and You Xue Qiong Lin is a lexicon of idioms and allusions. We notice that there is a lot of general knowledge of natural science and technology in these two books. The ancient educators do not neglect the subjects of natural history, natural science and technology.
