The Exploration of Young Children's Peer Relationships in the Classroom: Using Sociometry and Sociogram

Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the social network of a young children's classroom in order to understand each child's peer status. The subjects are 12 young children in a classroom of a kindergarten. Two-dimensional nominal sociometry was conducted to analyze each child's peer status. Sociograms were created to describe the social structure of this classroom. The results of analysis showed each child's peer status which could be categorized into four types. Teachers could offer guidance to young children based on this useful information. Also, sociograms revealed the social structure of group which is useful in classroom management.
