Effects of medium types, orchid mycorrhiza, and filter paper covering on seed germination on five lines of Anoectochilus formosanus Hayata were tested. No significant difference in germination rate was observed among the five lines and three medium. Seeds could not germinate without the presence of OMF (orchid mycorrhizal fungi) on OMA (oat meal agar) medium. Seeds inoculated with R02 OMF exhibited 80-86% germination percentage after 60days. Filter paper and the inoculation of OMF could promote seed germination and growth for medical use of this orchid.
