Patent research provides a lot of critical message for industry research and development. Patent citation analysis has been widely used in patent research. Most of patent analysis research tried to figure out what makes a patent valuable and how to identify those valuable patents.
Investigating specific patterns of patent citation data, some research conclude that single-stage citation analysis cannot reveal technological paths or lineages. Therefore, one should also make use of indirect citations and bibliographical coupling and co-citation. In bibliometrics, there have been broad researches on the assessment of documents. The most and in recent times have been studied are bibliographic coupling and co-citation.
Social network analysis is a theory to analyses network graph, discus the actors function in the social network and it can present the patent value by patent co-citation graph. In this study, social network analysis is a tool of analysis patent co-citation network structural and some index in social network has can identify the different kind of important thing in the network.
