A case of polio-like disease due to Coxsackie A 7 virus infection in a 4-month-old female child is presented. She had been annoyed with pronounced symptoms of weakness of both lower extremities, mild fever, dyspnea and absence of right patella tendon reflex. A feces sample obtained on the 6th illness day was taken for viral isolation. A cytopathogenic effect was found in monkey-kidney-cell culture. The agent was subsequently identified as Coxsackie A 7 virus. A blood sample taken on the 17th illness day revealed the neutralizing antibody to each of the three types of poliovirus presenting to type Ⅰ<1:10, to type Ⅱ<1:10 and to type Ⅲ=1:10. The patient was gradually relieved of the mentioned symptoms and signs within 16 days and a 7-month follow-up found no noticeable sequelae.
