Delaminating operation in traditional Chinese scrolls mounting techniques is a time-consuming work and full of risk. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of amylase on the delaminating operation of the mounted Chinese painting and calligraphy scrolls. The results show that the addition of amylase can effectively reduce the delaminating time and scrolls damage. The delaminating time of back papers decresed as the temperature increased in the range of 35~65℃. The presence of salts and pH value of the system can also affect the reaction of amylase. In summary the addition of amylase will help to delaminate the back paper of mounted Chinese scrolls.
