The pesticide residues in 1300 vegetable samples was analyzed by multiresidue method from July, 1989 to June, 1990 in Taiwan. The results showed that 437 of 1300 samples (33.6%) were found to contain pesticide residues and 25 of 437 samples (1.9%) were in violation. The incidence of pesticide residues varied with different kinds of samples, the highest incidence was leaf vegetables, the following were cole & headed vegetables, melon vegetables, fruit vegetables, root vegetables, the highest violative percentages was miscellaneous grain crops (18.2%).
