Eighty samples of fish egg (49), crab egg (24) and shrimp egg (7) were analyzed for color additives according to official methods during the period from November 1991 to April 1992. Twenty-nine samples were found to contain coal tar dye, with eleven positives in fresh crab eggs (13.75%). According to the regulation, the use of coloring agents in fresh products is illegal.
