The objective of this study is to ascertain the quality of sunscreen products. One hundred and fifty nine sunscreen products were purchased from supermarkets, cosmetic stores, departments and drug stores during July 1999 to April 2000. The results indicated that the ingredients of 10 samples (6.3%) did not comply with their specifications; eight of them were domestic, one from U. S. A. and the other one from Germany. Thirty-eight samples contained sunscreen ingredients that did not have official license. Nineteen samples (11.9%) failed to meet the labeling regulation requirements.
