Recently, a large area of forest has been cleared for the sake of economic development in tropical countries and this has been regarded as a source of greenhouse effect. Additionally, the increasing world population and soil degradation have led to food crisis, especially in the developing countries. Agroforestry, combining agriculture and forestry, has been considered a solution to mitigate these problems. Therefore, many countries have planned related programs to promote the development of agroforestry. This report aims to introduce the agroforestry policy and incentive strategy of European Union, the United States and India. The suggestions are provided for the development and promotion of agroforestry in Taiwan.
