The reservoir sediment removal by hydraulic dredging is one of the important methods to maintain the reservoir water resource for sustainable development. In the traditional siphon dredging, the end of suction conduit usually was blocked with debris, and barge often had damaged. For the purpose, the experimental results on siphon dredging with float tank using the equivalence between siphon pressure and buoyancy indicated that it can improve the disadvantages on the application of traditional siphon dredging. It can get a better dredging efficiency over 20% of sediment concentration (ratio of weight) if the float tank diameter is about 3.2 times of the diameter of suction conduit and the suction end is hung from the reservoir bed about 1/4 of diameter of the conduit. Increasing the suction conduit diameter or suction end can raise the dredging efficiency. Suitable instruments are available for the reservoir sediment removal.
