When we provided dietary education and physical activity program, the results were as follows: the exercise execution rate improved from 47% to 88% and exercise practice rate also increased from 27% to 76%. Moreover, accurate diet cognition levels were enhanced from 17% to 58% and diet habit levels increased from 58% to 75%. In addition, 24 overweight psychiatric patients saw a decline in their BMI average from 28.3 kg/m^2 to 27.9 kg/m^2. These results might serve as a reference for other psychiatric nurses who wish to help overcome weight issues among psychiatric patients. The overweight problem of psychiatric patients threatens their health and drug compliancy of which cannot be neglected. An investigation in June 2007 of 45 psychiatric patients revealed that the Body Mass Index (BMI) average was 25.8 kg/m^2 indicating that they were overweight.
