In the wake of a typhoon disaster and an unexpected disruption of tap water service in September, 2004, our government-the Executive Yuan directed the administrative agencies to initiate risk management; and on August 8th, 2005, approved of ”Risk Management Implementation Project in the Administrative Agencies” and the project took effectively immediately. In this article, the author reviews the states quo and problems in managing risks in administrative agencies and shares the practice of risk management of avian-flu prevention business in the Department of Health. He also provides five recommendations for all the departments, ministries and commissions to carry our risk management in the future.
