利用豚鼠試驗不同血液酸鹼度對哇巴因心臟毒性之影響,發現於迷走神經功能完整之動物,血液偏酸時,血漿鉀離子濃度增高,哇巴因之心臟毒性較低;血液偏鹼時,血漿鉀離子濃度降低,哇巴因之心臟毒性較高。動物經迷走神經切斷或注射阿托品處理後,血液酸鹼度對血漿鉀離子濃度之影響不變,但哇巴因之毒性於血液偏酸時反較血液偏鹼時高。顯示迷走神經對在不同酸鹼度時哇巴因之毒性改變具有影響作用,其作用機轉尚待探討。

Physiol. 21(4): 253-258, 1974.-Effect of vagus nerve on cardiace toxicity of ouabain in different blood pH was studied on guinea pigs under pentobarbital anaesthesia. With a constant volume of respiration, blood pH of the animal was changed by an intravenous infusion of diluted HC1 or NaHCO3. In animals with vagus nerve function intact, a decrease in blood pH caused an increase in plasma K and a decrease in ouabain toxicity. An increase in blood pH had the opposite effect. Vagotomy or atropine treatmentdid not change the effects of blood pH on plasma K but significantly changed the effect of pH on ouabain toxicity. The dose of ouabain to cause cardiac arrest became significantly higher in the high pH group than in the low pH group. The result indicates that the activity of vagus nerve is an important factor in the determination of the cardiac toxicity of ouabain in different blood pH. The actual role of vagus nerve in the modification of the toxicity is still to be determined.
