Fabrication of Al-Al3Ti Composites by Friction Stir Processing

摘要


利用摩擦攪拌製程(friction stir processing, FSP)可使鋁與鈦元素粉進行反應,而獲得不同Al3Ti含量之Al-Al3Ti複材。Al3Ti是在摩擦攪拌製程中反應生成且均勻的分散在複材中,其平均顆粒大小爲68-80奈米。而複材中的鋁母材也具有次微米晶粒結構。由於Al3Ti具有高楊氏模數,故此複材具有相當優異之強度。以經由摩擦攪拌製程之Al-15at%Ti爲例,其楊氏模數可達114 GPa而抗拉強度可達525 MPa。

Al-Al3Ti composites with various Al3Ti contents can be fabricated in-situ by friction stir processing (FSP) Al-Ti elemental powder mixtures. The Al3Ti particles, which have an average size of 68-80 nm, are formed in-situ and uniformly distributed in the composite. The aluminum matrix has submicron-grained structure. Due to the high modulus of Al3Ti phase, the composites possess enhanced Young's modulus. For Al-15 at% Ti, the Young's modulus reaches 114 GPa, and the ultimate tensile strength reaches 525 MPa after FSP.
